ZUMA Makes the Majors! Sporting News Selects ZUMA As Exclusive Worldwide Agent
Laguna Beach, CA - October 7, 2004
ZUMA Press, the largest independent press agency and wire service, is proud to announce it beat out competing agencies for exclusive worldwide rights to syndicate the picture content of the award-winning weekly the Sporting News (SN). With more than 700,000 hard-hitting images dating back over 118 years, the deal is a major win for ZUMA's booming sports division.
In the coming weeks, the Sporting News archive will be incorporated into ZUMA's e-commerce Website (ZUMApress.com) and made available for immediate syndication by clients around the world. Highlights include iconic portraits of baseball's early stars by CHARLES M. CONLON, plus more than 300,000 historical, black-and-white images that document baseball throughout most of the 20th century and nearly as many images covering football, basketball and hockey.
In addition to the Sporting News' legacy images, ZUMA's sports wire will "push" their weekly picture production to editorial clients and partners worldwide. The mix of baseball, basketball, football, hockey and NASCAR action, plus, incredible sports portraiture provided by SN staff shooters JAY DROWNS, BOB LEVERONE, ROBERT SEALE, and chief photographer ALBERT DICKSON among others, is sure to have international appeal.
