Laguna Beach, CA - May 28, 2003
ZUMA Press, Inc., one of the world's leading providers of editorial photography, is proud to announce that award-winning photographer GARY BRAASCH has signed on to be represented by ZUMA Press. His spectacular coverage of environmental issues and conservation, nature, biodiversity, ecosystems, field science and climate change, has earned him numerous prestigious awards, most recently "Outstanding Nature Photographer-2003," granted by the North American Nature Photography Association.
Braasch has exhibited in major cities across the country and his work has graced the pages of over 100 leading publications world-wide, including TIME, LIFE, DISCOVER, BBC WILDLIFE, AUDUBON, NATIONAL WILDLIFE, the SMITHSONIAN, SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN, INTERNATIONAL WILDLIFE, NATURAL HISTORY, ANIMALS, French TERRE SAUVAGE, OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHER, AMERICAN PHOTOGRAPHER and PHOTO DISTRICT NEWS, among others. His work has also been selected for the Permanent Design Collection of the Library of Congress.
"The signing of this preeminent photographer underscores our commitment to expanding and diversifying our world-class image collection to include a wider selection of exceptional stock, travel and nature photography," said Scott Mc Kiernan, Director of ZUMA Press.
"Braasch's collection contains decades of hard work we are proud to represent. We look forward to adding more great talent of Braasch's caliber in the months ahead," adds Mc Kiernan.
Among Braasch's outstanding picture stories ZUMA Press will represent are endangered plant rescues on Kauai; studies of the ancient forests of North America; Mount St. Helens' eruption and regeneration; and his work on the Antarctic peninsula, which demonstrated that penguins are one of first animals to be heavily affected by climate change.
