Groundhog Day Opening of "Stripped"
Jan. 20, 2006 - ZUMA Press presents "Stripped - AAA: Abandoned Automobiles of America," a photographic exhibition by photographer Scott Mc Kiernan.
Set in America's big cities and beyond, "Stripped" offers a rendition of how time, neglect and nature's elements transformed once-gleaming machines into lonely piles of rust. "For many, a car is their most costly purchase, and here their once-prized possessions have come to an unseemly death. These cars may be abandoned or tortured, but for me, they have a quiet elegance," says Mc Kiernan.
"Stripped" is part an ongoing photographic project that Mc Kiernan began more than two decades ago. Selects from the series will exhibit for the first time from February 2 through March 31, 2006, at the BIG Gallery located at the Ocean Avenue Restaurant and Brewery in Laguna Beach. A book project is planned for the full set of 200+ images.
The accomplished photographer, editor, agent and curator began his career over 30 years ago as a photojournalist for leading magazines worldwide. His work has exhibited in New York, California and elsewhere around the country.
