Earth: The Ultimate Conflict
Oct. 15, 2007 - Portland, Oregon, U.S. - When it comes to nature, ZUMA Press photographer Gary Braasch has been there and shot it. From photographing rainforest waterfalls and "hot lips" flowers in Costa Rica to documenting the impact of global warming on a small island in Alaska, Braasch has truly been everywhere. Next month, Braasch will be visiting New York, London, Washington, DC, and Los Angeles to support his new book, Earth Under Fire: How Global Warming Is Changing the World.
"My relationship with ZUMA is based around my nature stories. It seemed to me to be the perfect outlet for them to be seen. ZUMA does picture stories well, much more so than other agencies," says Braasch.
"Gary is a leader in the eco movement. He helps all of us understand, with visual evidence, not rhetoric. Gary is doing something about global warming, and we need more like him. It is an honor to represent him and his fine work. Congrats on the book. Everyone should go out a get a copy," says ZUMA Press Founder and CEO Scott Mc Kiernan.

Rear-View - November 14, 2007 - January 17, 2008 - Delray Beach, Florida, USA - Join ZUMA Press Founder and CEO, photographer Scott Mc Kiernan for his photographic exhibition entitled "Rear-View" at the Palm Beach Photographic Centre: FotoFusion. Scott gave us a quick rundown of how this show came about.
"It all started 9/11/2001. I was in London and on my way to New York City. After witnessing on live TV at offices of one of my clients, the London Times, the second plane hitting the World Trade Center, I walked the streets of London aimlessly. Many people appeared to be stunned and lost too.
As a news photographer normally I have been in the middle of news, covering it. I had lived in NYC for the first decade of my career and many friends of mine died on that fateful day.
As I walked I sought out unplanned images. Images of hope. The interaction of people and the street. Without them being aware of me and or reacting to my camera, my presence.
Shooting from the hip and the rear. People from the rear mostly so as to not effect there body language. A face and it's expressions are usually a reaction to whom is photographing them. I search for a pure moment of these people. A Rear-View innocent image on the world. Now six years latter the series has evolved to cover the streets of all the continents except Antarctica."
